Ball Python
Python regius
The most morph-rich snake in the hobby — hundreds of base genes combine into endless designer combos. These are the foundation genes you'll see named in listings.
Recessive10
Needs two copies to show. One copy is a hidden 'het' carrier — visually normal, but it passes the gene on.
Albino
AmelanisticNo black pigment — high-contrast yellow and white.
Piebald
PiedPatches of pure white broken by normal-patterned colour.
Clown
Reduced, connected pattern with a clean dorsal stripe and bright head.
Lavender Albino
Albino base over a lavender-grey ground — yellow on lilac.
Caramel Albino
A 'tyrosinase-positive' albino — warm caramel and butterscotch tones.
Ghost
HypomelanisticMuted, washed-out melanin giving a soft, smoky look.
Axanthic
No yellow/red pigment — a black, white and grey snake.
Desert Ghost
DGReduced black with glowing gold sides; a combo-maker's favourite.
Genetic Stripe
A single continuous dorsal stripe down the full body.
Leopard
Broken, spotted pattern that adds 'leopard' detailing to combos.
Incomplete dominant10
Shows with one copy, and shows differently with two (the 'super' form). Commonly — if loosely — called 'co-dom' in the hobby.
Pastel
Brightens colour and lightens the head — the hobby's workhorse gene.
Super form: Super Pastel
Mojave
Clean flames and a bright belly; part of the blue-eyed-lucy complex.
Super form: Blue-Eyed Leucistic (in complex)
Fire
Lightens and adds contrast; the super is a near-white black-eyed animal.
Super form: Black-Eyed Leucistic
Yellow Belly
Subtle on its own — clean belly and side flecks; super is an ivory snake.
Super form: Ivory
Enchi
Warms colour to orange and breaks up the pattern.
Super form: Super Enchi
Cinnamon
Rich chocolate tones; the super is a solid dark snake.
Super form: Super Cinnamon
Black Pastel
Deep, dark colour — the super goes nearly solid black.

Dominant4
Shows with one copy and looks the same with two — there's no distinct super form.
Pinstripe
Thin, racing-stripe pattern with reduced side markings.
Spider
Thin, web-like pattern with a bright background.
Linked to a neurological 'wobble'. Many keepers avoid breeding it on welfare grounds.
Champagne
Reduced pattern with a warm tan dorsal and clean sides.
Mild wobble in some animals; the super form is generally non-viable.
Hidden Gene Woma
HGWReduced banding and a clean dorsal; strong combo gene.
Possible 'duckbill' / mild neuro traits in some lines.
Polygenic1
Built by selectively breeding many small genes over generations, not a single switch. Results vary by line.
Hypo (line-bred)
Reduced pattern and softened colour built up by selective breeding.
