1. The Service

Culebra Exchange is a peer-to-peer marketplace for live reptiles and related products. Accounts are federation accounts managed through Culebra Command. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and the Community Guidelines.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, buy, or sell. Certain listings (including venomous animals) require additional certification and may be restricted by state or local law. You are responsible for confirming you may legally buy, possess, and receive any animal you order.

3. Escrow & payments

Beta — direct deals. Until on-platform checkout launches, buyers and sellers arrange the sale, payment and shipping directly with each other. On these deals Culebra is not a party to the sale, does not hold or transfer any money, does not provide escrow or a refund guarantee, and charges no transaction fee. Sellers remain responsible for confirming that the buyer may legally receive the animal, including Venomous Keeper Certification for venomous species. Use a payment method with buyer protection, and report any scam to us.

Once on-platform checkout is live, animal purchases and reservation deposits are processed through Stripe and held as escrow until the order is settled, cancelled, or refunded under platform rules. Listing status only changes after payment clears. Culebra charges a transaction fee on animal sales, split between buyer and seller (currently 3% from the buyer and 2% from the seller, minimum $2.50 per side, on the animal price or deposit — not shipping). The buyer's share is capped at $150 per order, except on purchases from a storefront whose seller share is waived (below), where it stays at 3%. The buyer's share is added at checkout; the seller's share is deducted from the payout when escrow is released. The seller's share is waived (0%, no minimum) in two cases: (a) the storefront is one of the first 50 created on the Exchange, for purchases made before April 1, 2027 (Eastern time); or (b) an owner of the storefront is an active Citadel Culebra student at the time of purchase. The fee split is fixed when the buyer pays. Culebra pays the card processing fee. The buyer's share is refunded with any pre-shipment cancellation. Pro features on the Exchange come with Citadel Culebra student tuition, which Citadel Culebra bills separately.

4. Listings & content

Sellers warrant that listings are accurate, animals are as described, and media they upload is theirs to use. We may remove content, suspend storefronts, or cancel orders that violate these Terms, the Guidelines, or applicable law.

5. Shipping & live arrival

During beta, shipping is arranged directly between buyer and seller, including the carrier, packing, timing and live-arrival terms. Culebra Exchange does not ship animals or hold payment during beta. Once escrow checkout launches, buyers and sellers must follow the shipping windows and documentation required on each order, and escrow release follows confirmed healthy arrival unless a claim is opened under the live-arrival policy.

6. Accounts

Keep your Command credentials secure. Password reset, device management, and sign-out-everywhere are provided by Culebra Command. You may request account deletion from Exchange settings; we retain records required for legal, tax, fraud, and dispute purposes as described in the Privacy Policy.
