Reticulated Python

Malayopython reticulatus

Big, intelligent, and increasingly designer. Alongside colour and pattern genes, retics carry dwarf and super-dwarf localities that cap adult size — a key thing to read before you buy.

Recessive4

Needs two copies to show. One copy is a hidden 'het' carrier — visually normal, but it passes the gene on.

Albino

Comes in Purple, Lavender and White lines — striking pattern, no black.

Motley

Connected, aberrant pattern that clears the sides.

Genetic Stripe

A clean dorsal stripe running the length of the body.

Pied

Piebald

Random patches of pure white across a patterned animal.

Incomplete dominant5

Shows with one copy, and shows differently with two (the 'super' form). Commonly — if loosely — called 'co-dom' in the hobby.

Tiger

Elongated, banded pattern; the super is a bold high-contrast animal.

Super form: Super Tiger

Sunfire

Brightens and intensifies colour with a warm glow.

Super form: Super Sunfire

Platinum

Pattern reduction and silvering; supers trend toward white.

Super form: Lineback / white

Phantom

Subtle darkening and pattern change; powerful in combos.

Super form: Super Phantom

Golden Child

Reduced pattern with a clean golden ground colour.

Super form: Super Golden Child

Polygenic1

Built by selectively breeding many small genes over generations, not a single switch. Results vary by line.

Dwarf / Super Dwarf

Localities

Island-locality bloodlines (Kalatoa, Selayar, Jampea…) that keep adults far smaller than mainland retics.
